With changes in nutritional status due to epidemiological and food transitions in recent years; the evaluation of the nutritional profile through food and nutritional surveillance is extremely important for the implementation of public policies for health promotion and protection. The present study aimed to evaluate the coverage of the Food and Nutrition Surveillance System, in different life cycles, in the region of Triângulo Mineiro and Alto Paranaíba, Minas Gerais, Brazil, in 2015. Seven cities were selected from each microregion of the Triângulo Mineiro and Alto Paranaíba and data were obtained in the public domain on the number of individuals registered in Food and Nutrition Surveillance System Web and Food and Nutrition Surveillance System Bolsa Família, the sum of these being the total number of entries. To analyze the coverage in the different life cycles, the reference population was the number of inhabitants of each municipality subtracted by the number of users with private health insurance, in their appropriate age groups. All regions and life cycles have low system coverage, with children with a higher prevalence of records and older people with nonexistent or smaller records. The low coverage evidenced leads to underutilization of the system, preventing effective public policies for health promotion and protection through strategies on population nutritional status.
