The pecuary sector is one of the most important foundations for Brazilian Economy, which includes the swineculture area, which presents great relevance not only in terms of intern market but also for exportations. In order to make to keep the sector’s expansion, it’s important to keep constant up-to-date researches about the most strategic sanitary and epidemiological issues to the sector. Based on this background, the present research aimed to elaborate a literature review about Classical Swine Fever (CSF), a viral, non-zoonotic disease very important for swineculture due to the economic losses and international market restraints that it causes. Brazil has a zone considered a CSF-free by OIE, even though part of its territory is still a non-CSF-free zone, which makes one of the most important goals for producers to completely eradicate such disease nationwide. Based on the present bibliographic research, it is possible to conclude that not only it is necessary to constantly enforce the epidemiologic vigilance policies at the CSF-free zone, in order to keep its sanitary status, but it is also very urgent to think about actions aiming the non-CSF-free zone, both for epidemiological vigilance and education for producer, until the good producing practices become more widely spread in order to mitigate the disease at the whole territory.
