Resumo: In today's world scenario there is a growing concern about sustainability and its importance in many aspects of our lives. Therefore, the civil construction industry, that causes a lot of environmental impacts, is looking to adopt measures with the objective of integrating sustainability in its sector, guaranteeing a low environmental impact development. This work consists on a bibliographic review, focused on materials, waste, energy and water managements in the various phases of the construction process and aims to identify proposals and strategies that can be applied in sustainable construction and green building design, with the purpose of promoting sustainable development, preservation of the environment and human well-being.

Desta forma, a indústria da construção civil, que é uma grande causadora de impactos ambientais, procura adotar medidas voltadas à integração da sustentabilidade em seu setor, garantindo um desenvolvimento de baixo impacto ambiental.
