This dissertation discusses the relationship between Sustainability and the Productive System of the Apparel Industries, specifically in the ‘Moda Festa’ segment. The research starts from the interest in the areas of Fashion Design, Sustainability, Management and the Production System of the Garment Industries, with the objective of investigating alternatives for the reduction of textile residues through the systematization of productive practices for the garment industry, mainly stimulating the environmental sustainability of the processes. The reflections on sustainability and fashion were based mainly on the studies of Manzini and Vezzoli (2002), Fletcher and Grose (2011), and Braungart and McDonough (2013), AUDACES (2015) and Sampaio et al. (2018). This framework was used to support the analysis of the case study carried out in a clothing industry in the ‘Moda Festa’ segment in the city of Uberlândia / MG, allowing to identify the level of sustainable maturity of the company as well as the sustainable actions already carried out, according to theoretical framework adopted. The obtained results include general guidelines for the gradual systematization of actions aimed at sustainability, which will enable companies to continuously progress towards the growth of their level of sustainable maturity. The conclusion reinforces the importance of the designer's role as a conscious and knowledgeable professional to collaborate in the improvement of more sustainable projects. However, it is worth noting the fundamental collaboration of all the social actors involved - designers, companies, industries and consumers - all being responsible for effective actions that strengthen and consolidate the sector's sustainable awareness.
