Resumo: | As a result of the scientific and technological advances of the last decade, AIDS has come to be considered a chronic disease. Antiretroviral therapy prolonged survival and reduced mortality, however, these advances significantly impacted Brazilian Social Security. This research analyzes the repercussion in Social Security, more specifically in the Brazilian Social Security and Welfare of patients with AIDS, incapable of working and unable to have the means to maintain their subsistence. After the bibliographic review, an exploratory, ecological study was carried out with secondary data obtained from the database of the Unified Benefit Information System (SUIBE) of the Ministry of Social Security and Social Assistance in the period 2004-2016. The Epi Info 7.1.5 program (CDC, Atlanta, USA) was used for consistency analysis, frequency distribution, data stratification, as well as bivariate analysis and survival analysis. Geographic Information - SIG, QGIS 2.18 Of the 99369 benefits granted, the majority were for individuals between 20 and 59 years of age, living in urban areas, predominantly in the Southeast and South regions and for males. There is a severe repercussion in Brazilian social security, since this age group coincides with the most productive life span. This paper is presented from the perspective of two articles, the first one being: AIDS and the Brazilian social assistance and social security, 2004-2016 and the second - Regional inequalities of AIDS in the scope of Social Security and Welfare, Brazil, 2004-2016. |

A terapia antirretroviral prolongou a sobrevida e reduziu a mortalidade, entretanto esses avanços impactaram significativamente a Seguridade Social Brasileira.
