The use of cinema as a source of studies in the International Relations area has gradually taken up space in the academic field as an alternative method of teaching and learning. Considering not only the topics addressed, but also the historical context in which the films and series to be analyzed were created, is of paramount importance and points out the relevance of art for the analytical development of the academic community. Based on this idea, the present article seeks to present the American animation Avatar: The Last Airbender as a propellant for studies in the field of cinema and International Relations through the use of the medium-range theory of Just War based on the studies of Michael Walzer. Coming out of elements attached to the key theoretical concepts jus in bello and jus ad bellum, analyzes of specific episodes and characters of the series will be carried out, leading with them points to be debated under the scope of the Just War Theory.
