Uso e ocupação do solo e focos de queimadas no munícipio de Uberlândia-MG entre 2001 a 2021

The use of remote sensing for environmental purposes has enabled the monitoring and observation of several factors such as soil alteration, water and air quality, detection of fires and logging in the last decade. This study used land use and occupation data provided by MapBiomas and data from fire outbreaks (FO) provided by INPE, both between the years 2001 and 2021 for the municipality of Uberlândia-MG. It was observed the occurrence of 1684 accumulated FO, concentrated mainly between the months of August and September, of which 30% occurred within the study area (area created inside the urban perimeter) which occupies only 17% of the entire municipality. A relationship was observed throughout the municipality between areas with recurrence of FO and the transformation of land use previously occupied by pasture, which gave rise to urban areas and agricultural areas such as soybean crops, forestry, etc. In the division by zones (1 – 4), within the area of study, there was a greater expansion and alteration of the soil in zones 2 and 3, which are located in the southern sector of the urban perimeter. These zones presented greater growth in urban and agricultural areas, in addition to the greater concentration of observed FO within the area of study, suggesting the use of fire for soil cleaning in this region.
