The design is applicable in various areas and has been discussed from different perspectives. Its compreenhension is in the creative activity of transmitting messages, ideas and concepts. Nevertheless, the responsibility of design is to apply the acquired knowledge, in a humane way of thinking, to improve quality of life. Once that the lack of resources, and unsustainable standards of consumerism are evident, the design comes as an essential element capable of influencing the use, reuse and recycling, not only of industrial waste but also to elaborate sociocultural innovations that will support other sectors in a community. The aim of this study is to explore the possibilities of working with cardboard within a sustainable field, and also being reliable to scrap men and NGOs. The furniture project developed from social and sustainability questions that conducted the research in order to contribute to the reflection and application of a process that is dignified, from the moment that cardboard is thrown away to the inclusion of poor communities with technical and aesthetic skills. The purpose of the design/er in the creation and refining of products with the raw material that can be reused is to not only provide more sustainability to the ones involved, but also to orientate future studies of similar approaches.
