Resumo: What are mental or psychological images? This paper aims to answer this and other questions from Aristotle’s Philosophy. In De Anima, Aristotle investigates what the psychē is, term that can be translated as “soul” or “mind”. In this way, the work deals with the psychē and its parts, its capacities and its contents. This research will try to answer mainly how the psychological capacity called "phantasia" or "imagination" works is cause of its products, which are the phantasmata or mental images. Thus, according to Aristotle, it will be explained what perception is and how it works, what phantasia is and what kinds of phantasia exist, the relation between phantasia and thought, and, finally, the relation of phantasia to the practical realm of action.

Dessa forma, a obra trata da psychē e suas partes, seja as capacidades e seus conteúdos. Esta pesquisa tentará responder principalmente como funciona a capacidade psicológica denominada por “phantasia” ou “imaginação” e seus produtos, que são os phantasmata ou imagens mentais.
