Repertório Comportamental do Opilião Neotropical Ilhaia cuspidata (Opiliones, Gonyleptidae)

Resumo: | In this study, we provide an ethogram for the harvestman llhaia cuspidaía and describe the daily activity pattern of captive individuais, we also provide a comparison between the behavioral repertory of this species with that of the syntopic Discocyrtus oliverioi. five females and four males of I. cuspidata were maintained in the same terrarium from november 1999-november 2000 for qualitative and quantitative observations. Twenty behavioral acts were recorded, classified in seven categories and the relative frequency of each was determined: exploration (69.8%), resting (16.7%), feeding (6.3%), grooming (4.4%), social interactions (2.6%), reproduction (0.1%) and others (0.3%). There was a marked difference in the frequency of the comportamento categories between sexes: females fed more frequently than males and males were involved in social interactions more frequently than females. during most of the daylight hours, individuais remained inside shelters and became active from 19:00-09:00 h. although I. cuspidata and D. oliverioi showed almost the same behavioral acts, there were quantitative differences in their repertories: the relative frequency of behavioral categories “ resting” and “ social interactions” were higher for I. cuspidata whereas “ reproduction” and “ grooming” were higher for D. oliverioi. The main qualitative difference between these two species was related to the forms of parental care:females of D. oliverioi guard their eggs and fírst instar juveniles, whereas females of I. cuspidata scatter their eggs intime and space and do not actively protect their offspring. since both species share the same habitats (sometimes in multi-species aggregations), the behavioral differences between them may be explained by particular morphological and physiological characteristics of the species, as well as by phylogenetic constraints |

Foi feita também uma comparação entre o repertório comportamental desta espécie com Discocyrtus oliverioi. Cinco fêmeas e quatro machos de I. cuspidata foi mantidos no mesmo terrário durante o período de novembro de 1999 a novembro de 2000 para observações qualitativas e quantitativas. Foram registrados 20 atos comportamentais, classificados em sete categorias e a freqüência relativa de cada uma foram determinadas: exploração (69,8%), repouso (16,7%), alimentação (6,3%), limpeza (4 ,4 %), interações sociais (2,6%), reprodução (0,1%) e outros (0,3%). Flouve uma diferença significativa na freqüência das categorias de comportamento entre os sexos: fêmeas freqüentemente alimentaram mais do que machos e machos estiveram mais freqüentemente envolvidos em interações sociais do que fêmeas. Durante a maior parte do dia, os indivíduos permaneceram dentro de abrigos e ficaram ativos das 19:00-09:00 h. Embora I. cuspidata e D. oliverioi demonstrassem quase os mesmos atos comportamentais, houve diferenças quantitativas em seus repertórios: a freqüência relativa das categorias comportamentais de “repouso” e de “interações sociais” foram mais altas para 1. cuspidata, enquanto que, “reprodução” e “limpeza” foram mais altas para D. oliverioi. A principal diferença qualitativa entre estas duas espécies foram relacionadas às formas de cuidado parental: fêmeas de D. oliverioi guardam seus ovos e os primeiro instar juvenis, enquanto que fêmeas de I. cuspidata espalham seus ovos no tempo e no espaço e não protegem os seus descendentes ativamente.
