Análise da discrepância entre localidade de residência e estabelecimento de ensino: o caso da Escola Estadual Messias Pedreiro, Uberlândia-MG

Considering education as a basic right of the entire population, this study aims to evaluate the distribution of educational establishments, more specifically the state high schools in the urban area of the city of Uberlândia-MG as well as where the students of the Messias Pedreiro State School live due to school location. Because as it will be presented there is in the enrollment process the variable of the choice of the educational establishment that takes into account innumerable factors, from the distance to the respective residence as well as the quality of the teaching presented by the school which will logically give it greater prestige within the hierarchy created even within the public network of the same administrative dependency. With this, the data from the research carried out with the students of the 2nd year of high school of the aforementioned EE Messias Pedreiro school is presented, which fits the provisions above with regard to the notoriety it presents in the city of Uberlândia-MG. The research sought to identify through the application of questionnaires where students live, how they travel to school and the reason why they chose to study at EE Messias Pedreiro. The analysis of these data took place through geoprocessing techniques, for that purpose they were initially sketched in electronic spreadsheets and later transformed into graphs and thematic maps through the Qgis 3.4.7 program. A comparison was also made of the official data of the education management bodies in Minas Gerais of all schools in Uberlândia-MG, with the research locus being the state high school network in line with the administrative and educational level of EE Messias Pedreiro .
