Resumo: The present paper has its theme the change of the square's name from Tubal Vilela to Ismene Mendes. A movement initiated in a demonstration that took place on March 8, 2017. The object of analysis is the memories involving the place and, above all, what was problematized by the women who organized the demonstration: the meaning effects of promoting memories and forgetfulness on the History of Uberlândia, with the square as the motto. The objective of working with this theme is to understand how working with local memories in History Teaching can contribute to a plural History, which is concerned with turning its attention to those who were forgotten in History and who had their daily lives, struggles, and resistances silenced. Defending the theme as a sensitive one and seeking to contribute with reflections on a History Teaching that helps establish correspondences with other spaces, times, subjects, and that promotes an ethical, aesthetic, and political formation sensitive to call of the silenced.

O objeto de análise são memórias que envolvem o local e, sobretudo, o que foi problematizado pelas mulheres que organizaram a manifestação: os efeitos de sentido da promoção de lembranças e esquecimentos sobre a história de Uberlândia, tendo a praça como mote. Meu objetivo ao trabalhar com esta temática é compreender como o trabalho com as memórias locais no Ensino de História pode contribuir para uma História plural, que se preocupe em voltar sua atenção para aqueles que foram esquecidos na História e que tiveram seu cotidiano, suas lutas e resistências silenciados.
