Resumo: Mammary neoplasms in female dogs are of significant importance in veterinary medicine due to the high frequency, being a study model for mammary cancer in humans. With different histological patterns and biological behavior, it makes this disease more complex and urgent to be identified by prognostic factors, making it possible to diagnose and treat effectively the animals with mammary neoplasms. Proliferation markers are present in tumors, blood or biological fluids, and may alter concentrations related to tumor cell growth, leading in recent years to the intensification of studies to identify cell markers that occur during neoplastic evolution. Thereby, the objective of this study was to evaluate the immunohistochemical technique of the AgNOR proliferation marker with the type and histological grade of the female dogs that were treated at the Veterinary Hospital of the Federal University of Uberlândia from January to May 2017.

Com diferentes padrões histológicos e comportamento biológico, torna essa doença mais complexa e urgente a sua identificação por fatores de prognostico, possibilitando diagnosticar e tratar com eficiência os animais portadores de neoplasias mamarias. Os marcadores de proliferação, estão presentes nos tumores, no sangue ou em líquidos biológicos, podendo alterar concentrações relacionadas ao crescimento celular tumoral, levando, nos últimos anos, a intensificação dos estudos para identificar marcadores celulares que ocorrem durante a evolução neoplásica.
