Resumo: Carioca bean is a crop of social and economic importance in Brazil. Throughout the growing cycle, the crops are attacked by various pests and diseases, requiring constant interventions by farmers to reduce quantitative and qualitative losses. Among the pests, the whitefly (Bemisia tabaci biotype B) is one of the most important, as it is a vector of the Bean Golden Mosaic Virus, which is considered the main viral disease of the bean plant and can render cultivation unviable. Disease management involves the search for new techniques to control the whitefly, which is the virus vector. Thus, the objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of applying insecticide mixed with granulated organomineral fertilizer associated with seed treatment in controlling the whitefly (Bemisia tabaci biotype B) and promoting the development of bean plants grown in a protected environment. The experiment was conducted in the greenhouse at the Umuarama Campus in Uberlândia, MG, following a completely randomized design with six treatments and four replications. Each plot consisted of a three-liter pot with four plants per pot. The insects were collected on two occasions using a manual suction device, and immediately after collection, 10 pairs of whiteflies were confined in anti-aphid screen cages in each plot. The treatments were as follows: Treatment 1 (mineral fertilizer: MAP); Treatment 2 (organomineral 05-26-00 without Actara); Treatment 3 (organomineral 05-26-00 + Actara, 200 g a.i./ha); Treatment 4 (organomineral 05-26-00 + Actara 200 g a.i./ha + Cruiser seed treatment, 300 mL a.i./100 kg of seeds); Treatment 5 (organomineral 05-26-00 + Cruiser seed treatment, 300 mL a.i./100 kg of seeds); and Treatment 6 (mineral fertilizer MAP + Cruiser seed treatment, 300 mL a.i./100 kg of seeds). The evaluated parameters were shoot and root mass, both fresh and dry weight, as well as the number of adult whiteflies, nymphs, and eggs. There was no difference in bean plant development for the shoot mass and root weight parameters. The application of thiamethoxam together with the organomineral fertilizer associated with seed treatment was effective in controlling the whitefly.
