Urban trees, leafy beings that bring greenery to the routine of cities, often go unnoticed by residents. They do not imagine the distribution and organization of the trees' constituents to stay alive. The anatomy of wood allows us to identify the differences and peculiarities between species, by analyzing and describing the anatomy of trees present in cities we can bring residents closer to both the anatomy of wood, a science unknown to a large part of the public, and trees, showing the how spectacular they are inside. The project aims to describe the anatomy of urban trees in the municipality of Monte Carmelo – Minas Gerais and disseminate this information on social media, to the entire community. Histological slides were made using common wood anatomy techniques and descriptions followed IAWA guidelines. The wood anomie of ten species were described: Cenostigma pluviosum (DC.) Gagnon & G. P. Lewis; Persea americana Mill. ; Tecoma stans var. stans (L.) Juss. ex Kunth; Pachira aquatica Aubl. ; Handroanthus ochraceus A. H. Gentry) S. O. Grose; Callistemon viminalis (Sol. ex Gaertn.) G. Don; Ficus sp; Cecropia pachystachya Trécul; Guazuma ulmifolia Lam.; Delonix regia (Bojer ex Hook.) Raf., distributed in seven botanical families (Fabaceae, Lauraceae, Bignoniaceae, Malvaceae, Myrtaceae, Moraceae, Urticaceae). The present work brought information about tree species whose wood characteristics had not been described in the literature, in addition to contributing to the population's knowledge about trees present in cities.
