Resumo: | The present dissertation consists of two independent yet complementary studies on diabulimia. Study 1 aimed to provide an overview of the scientific production on diabulimia through a narrative literature review. After conducting location and initial screening procedures for the found materials, inclusion criteria related to the theme and publication format were applied. Applying these criteria, 20 references were selected as the study's analysis corpus, allowing the investigation of information regarding five dimensions of analysis: (1) conceptualization of diabulimia, (2) source, (3) objectives, (4) main findings, and (5) limitations. In general, from the assessment of the selected references, it was found that there is no consensus definition of diabulimia, that publications on the subject have been predominantly published in medical scientific journals, especially international ones, and few of them derive from empirical research. Additionally, gender and method biases were identified in some of the analyzed references. The recommendation is for further research on diabulimia, as it is a complex and relatively unexplored topic until now. Study 2 aimed to investigate the collective imagination of diabetics about diabulimia through posts in digital environments. Searches were conducted in seven distinct digital environments, concurrently with the process of compiling the found material. It's important to note that the selection of posts was guided by the application of four inclusion criteria that the posts should meet. In summary, the inclusion criteria were: (I) posts written in Portuguese; (II) in the public domain; (III) published by internet users who explicitly identified as diabetics or presented themselves in a way that allowed for such identification; (IV) and that reported experiences related to diabulimia. Applying these criteria, 50 posts were selected. The analysis strategy involved exhaustive readings of the selected material with a state of fluctuating attention, the delimitation of affective-emotional sense fields, and the establishment of reflective dialogues. Following this study, these findings will be thoroughly analyzed. |
