Objective: The main objective of this review is to analyze the mental health care strategies used by nursing in primary care in Brazil. Methodology: This is an integrative review of the literature prepared according to the six phases described by Ganong. Articles published in Portuguese and English, available in full online format, published in the last ten years on the Virtual Health Library Portal (VHL) were selected. Results: After searches carried out in the VHL and PUBMED databases, 157 articles were selected, 18 of which belonged to PUBMED and 139 to the VHL. Afterwards, the abstracts were read and fitted into the inclusion and exclusion criteria. All articles found in the PUBMED database were not selected, of the 139 articles found in the VHL, only 21 met the inclusion criteria. Conclusion: It can be concluded that the nurse has the main role in the scope of Basic Health Care, he is the one who outlines the strategies that will be used, participates in territorialization, identifies the main problems in his area in the family and social context of its users, and through of educational actions in health, seeks solutions to such problems encountered, in addition to preparing and leading the entire team.
