Considering the importance of the pre-cast and prestressed structures in the current context of Civil Engineering, which meets the current needs of the market, this work presents the dimensioning, together with other works, of one of the structural elements that integrate the structure of the Cancer Institute of Ceará, designed in 2001. The objective of this study is to elucidate the sizing practices adopted by current norms and to compare the results with those obtained by Mota (2005). The dimensioning of the slabs in pre-shaped and prestressed double sections T is presented, being one of the structural elements. This work was developed jointly, dimensioning all the structural elements, being presented here only the slabs. In order to do so, the standards established by the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards (ABNT), together with the main recommendations and bibliographies to analyze structures and global stability, were compared and the results obtained with the Mota project (2005) can be compared. By analyzing and dimensioning the elements separately and together, armor rates were obtained close to the expected one, when compared to the 2001 project and presented by Mota in 2005, with some changes that were already expected with the standards updating. Therefore, it is exposed that the different methods adopted for the dimensioning of the elements generate very close results, as in the case of dimensioning considering the standards established by current standards and the norms in force in 2001, as well as being evidenced in the dimensioning the changes in technical standards for loads consideration.
