Resumo: | The research is based on the study of two periods about the history of furniture in Brazil - modernism and the rise of modernism. Describing these periods according to their formal, esthetic and conceptual characteristics, the study presents a bibliographical description of furniture history, and how the European schools and vanguards contributed to the design formation in the country. In the 1950s, marked as a landmark of Brazilian design, technical innovations and use of materials, evoking the concept of "Brazilianness" to national furniture, based on works by Joaquim Tenreiro, Lina Bo Bardi and Sérgio Rodrigues. Subsequently, contemporary design is presented as having elements and factors that contrast with modernism: innovation and experimentation of alternative materials, new relations of uses, multifunctionality, sustainability, playfulness, among other aspects that define it, as a new conception of "Brazilian "(broader). Inherent in these questions, it is proposed the development of a hybrid furniture based on the references of the 1950s, from the fusion with the contemporary furniture, aiming to balance the main qualities of both periods. For that, after the theoretical development and the analysis between modern and contemporary furniture, the process of designing this new furniture is presented in order to guide future studies to focus on equivalent approaches. |

Universidade Federal de UberlândiaBrasilDesignPantaleão, Lucas Farinellihttp://lattes.cnpq.br/4607124943710149Mendonça, Rafaela Nuneshttp://lattes.cnpq.br/4037503039568883Pereira, Juliano Aparecidohttp://lattes.cnpq.br/4158398070137110Garcez, Letícia Vasconcelos Moraishttp://lattes.cnpq.br/7301886455299153Thomeo, Yasmin Carolini2018-02-27T13:58:04Z2018-02-27T13:58:04Z2017-12-15info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/bachelorThesisapplication/pdfTHOMEO, Yasmin Carolini.
