Industries are embedded in a highly mutant and competitive environment, in which context it is necessary to adopt strategies at all levels in order to increase productivity. Employees play a key role in the development and growth of an industry, so it makes necessary a management that be a mediator of personal interests, considering the individuality of each one, and the organization's needs to remain competitive within the market in which it is inserted. This study consists of the application of strategic management tools in order to promote continuous improvement in the maintenance sector of a food industry, through the analysis of operational data practiced in this department at a plant in the city of Uberlândia, Minas Gerais. Once the total wrench time of all employees was surveyed, the main causes of inefficiencies in the sector were raised, and by graphic analysis, it was noticed that the human factors and the physical distribution of the plant are the most aggravating problems. The approach of the theme studies the positive effects of the application of the strategic management to increase the wrench time in the maintenance sector of an industry and consequently the productivity and quality of the products offered.
