In order to debunk this concept, this paper understands heavy metal as a multilingual aesthetic cultural movement enhanced by other expressions that are sometimes neglected or omitted, such as flyers, album covers and sleeves, promotional photos, fanzines, video clips, movies, dances, clothing, verbal and body language, among others. Therefore, it is understood that all of these forms of art mentioned above are intrinsic. Being the subject matter strongly linked to everyday life aspects, autoethographic method of research was sought, since this method understands that active participants are essential during the research process. Thus, this paper is focused on the manifestations of heavy metal in the region of Uberlândia and the whole universe surrounding it. In order to investigate the aesthetic potentialities of heavy metal, this research is supported by the concept of art from a perspective of aesthetic experience addressed by Richard Shusterman and John Dewey. According to their concept on the aesthetic experience, it happens first by one's appreciation of nature, and therefore, it is not submitted to the boundaries of hegemonic art, bringing art closer to ordinary life. It is understood that this subject matter has a wide range of applications, so this research was organized in five groups called "metallic components" distributed in the form of essays containing discussions on the various possibilities of an aesthetic appreciation over them, being: underground, Inverted Cross, Headbanging, Satanic Triângulo Mineiro and Glam Invasion. Furthermore, by raising some of the characteristics of heavy metal, some of its aesthetic expressions were highlighted through the process of research, pointing out the aesthetic potentials of the style from the multiplicity of its expressions and its competence as a truly relevant artistic and cultural movement in the region of Triangulo Mineiro.Dissertação (Mestrado)O heavy metal pode ser visto pela maioria das pessoas como um gênero estritamente musical. Para desmitificar esse conceito, esse trabalho entende o heavy metal como um movimento cultural de multilinguagens estéticas. Além da expressão musical, o heavy metal também possui outras expressões que por vezes são renegadas ou esquecidas, como os flyers, as capas dos álbuns, as fotos promocionais, os fanzines, os videoclipes, os filmes, as danças, o vestuário, a linguagem verbal e corporal, entre outras. Dessa forma, entende-se que essas várias produções estéticas do heavy metal são indissociáveis. Por se tratar de um objeto de estudo que está fortemente ligado a questões cotidianas e aos prazeres da vida, essa pesquisa segue uma abordagem autoetnográfica. Tal abordagem entende que as experiências particulares do autor são primordiais durante o processo de pesquisa. Dessa maneira, esse trabalho foca a sua atenção para as manifestações do heavy metal na região do Triângulo Mineiro e seu entorno, porém não se encerrando sistematicamente nesse perímetro. Para compreender as potencialidades estéticas do heavy metal, essa pesquisa se sustenta no conceito de arte sob a perspectiva da experiência estética abordada por Richard Shusterman e John Dewey. Esse conceito entende que a experiência estética (re)aproxima a arte da vida ao passo que passamos a compreender que a apreciação estética não está reclusa nos limites da arte hegemônica, pois ela acontece primeiramente na apreciação da natureza. Por entender que o objeto de pesquisa possui uma vasta gama de assuntos a serem abordados, essa pesquisa foi organizada em cinco grupos denominados “componentes metálicos”. Esses grupos foram distribuídos em forma de ensaios que contém discussões acerca das várias possibilidades de uma apreciação estética. São eles: Underground, Cruz invertida, Headbanging, Triângulo satânico mineiro e Invasão glam. Levantando algumas dessas características do heavy metal, ficamos hábeis em perceber o valor das suas expressões estéticas.
