EFFICIENCY AND WATER CONSUMPTION REDUCTION SIMULATION IN FRESH MARKET TOMATO PRODUCTION USING FURROW IRRIGATION

Resumo: | Searching to know the current situation of furrow irrigation used by fresh market tomato farmers in the region of Mogi Guaçu, SP, the objective of this work were to evaluate the irrigation performance parameters and to analyze the adopted water management practice with others water schemes simulated with different values of water application efficiency. The irrigation water depth applied was 1,326 mm with a total crop evapotranspiration of 430.7 mm, resulting in water use efficiency (WUE) of 4 kg m-3 and water application efficiency (AE) of 32 %. The simulation of water application efficiency of 60% showed a reduction of water consumption of 27,123 m3. The results demonstrated that the irrigation system technique and the water management adopted by the farmers determined low values of efficiency, causing excess of water consumption when compared with the real needs of the crop. |

A lâmina total de água aplicada foi de 1.326 mm para uma evapotranspiração total da cultura de 430,7 mm, resultando em uma eficiência de uso de água (EUA) de 4 kg m-3 e uma eficiência de aplicação da água (EA) de 32 %. A simulação do manejo com a eficiência de aplicação de água de 60% mostrou que a redução de uso da água no final da safra seria de aproximadamente 27.123 m3.
