Resumo: A prototype of sugarcane harvester driven by a small tractor with the ability to cut and drop the stalks to the ground was the development and evaluated. The prototype moves toward the line to be harvested, and the sugarcane stalks are conducted by dividing lines and the chassis structure, cutting the stalks with their cutting blades mounted on a disc. A conveyor system is responsible for lateral movement and overturning of the cut stalks. Some machine structural problems and land irregularities affecting operational performance were found in field tests. The results demonstrated that certain modifications should be carried out on the prototype for improvements in its operating system, especially in the lateral and overturning operations, where part of the cut stalks not overturned completely. The cutting system has achieved great performance, featuring cut stump without any damage. In addition, when compared to manual cutting, the prototype has capacity for faster cut.

In addition, when compared to manual cutting, the prototype has capacity for faster cut.Um protótipo de colhedora de cana-de-açúcar, acionado por um microtrator com a capacidade de cortar e tombar uma linha da cultura, foi desenvolvido e avaliado. O protótipo elaborado se desloca em direção à linha a ser colhida, sendo os caules de cana-de-açúcar conduzidos pelos divisores de linhas e pela estrutura do chassi, realizando o corte dos colmos com suas lâminas de corte montadas em um disco. Um sistema transportador é responsável pelo movimento lateral e tombamento dos colmos cortados. Em testes realizados, encontraram-se dificuldades, como problemas no mecanismo de transporte da máquina e irregularidades do terreno afetando o desempenho operacional. Os resultados demonstraram que algumas modificações deverão ser realizadas no protótipo visando melhorias no seu sistema de funcionamento, principalmente na operação de tombamento lateral, onde parte dos colmos cortados não tombou completamente. O sistema de corte atingiu ótimo desempenho, apresentando corte de soqueiras sem nenhum tipo de dano.
