Resumo: The objective of this research was the development of a knowledge base that can facilitate the gasifier selection mechanisms of biomass for energy production. For this, an expert system using the EXPERT FEEL as a tool was created, which recommends the best type of gasifier taking into account the characteristics of biomass to be used, the purpose of use of the synthesis gas generated and the desired thermal power. The knowledge base was obtained through the consultation of books and specialized articles in addition to consultation with experts in the biomass gasification branch. The validation of the system was made by experts from the Federal University of Viçosa, which evaluated the performance and functionality of the computer system proposed. Based on the results obtained and the evaluation made by human experts, one can conclude that the system is promising. So, for this system to become more efficient decision making it is necessary to review by other experts enabling the improvement of their knowledge base.

Para isso, foi criado um sistema especialista utilizando-se o EXPERT SINTA como ferramenta, que recomenda o melhor tipo de gaseificador levando em consideração as características da biomassa a ser utilizada, a finalidade de utilização do gás de síntese gerado e a potência térmica pretendida. A base de conhecimento foi obtida através da consulta prévia a livros e artigos especializados, além da consulta aos especialistas no ramo da gaseificação de biomassa. A validação do sistema foi feita por especialistas da Universidade Federal de Viçosa, os quais avaliaram o desempenho e a funcionalidade do sistema computacional proposto. Com base nos resultados obtidos e na avaliação feita pelos especialistas, pode-se concluir que o sistema desenvolvido é promissor.
