Resumo: The concern about the environment and energy savings is a recurring issue today. Cooling systems are important in the industrial and home context and both are large energy consumers. Currently, the vast majority of refrigeration systems use non-renewable energy, which has several negative points in its use. Thus, this work consists of the study of adsorption refrigeration in a sustainable way without using electric energy or energy sources harmful to the environment. Using solar energy as a source of heat, instead. Sistemas de refrigeração são importantes tanto no contexto industrial quanto no domiciliar e são grandes consumidores de energia. Atualmente, a grande maioria dos sistemas de refrigeração utiliza energia não renovável, que apresentam diversos pontos negativos em sua utilização. Assim, este trabalho consiste no estudo da refrigeração por adsorção de uma maneira sustentável, ou seja, sem a utilização de energia elétrica ou fontes de energia prejudiciais ao meio ambiente, utilizando energia solar como fonte de calor. Foram realizadas pesquisas das propriedades e características de alguns pares adsorventes, sendo proposto, como adsorvente o carvão ativado e como adsorvato o etanol anidro.
