Application of Cleaner Production (CP) to improve waste management in paper pre-printing process - a case study in a Curitiba packaging company

Resumo: The world demand for water has increased for different reasons, such as changes in the consumption patterns of the people, and even the increase in market production. In addition, the water scarcity experienced by many countries, including Brazil, highlights the need for conscientious use and preservation of the water resource, whether by people or companies. Thus, this paper aimed to propose improvements for the lack of effluent treatment generated by the paper roll prepress process in a large packaging company Curitiba. Then, driven by the Cleaner Production (CP) methodology, take a few steps to reach the result: carry out the action plan to execute the selected improvement opportunity. Thus, after implementing the action plan, it is expected to reuse 95% of the water from the treated effluent and reduce the plant's water consumption by 2.45% per month. Thus, the aim is to achieve level 2 of the cleaner production methodology or reduce the environmental impact caused by the effluent from the paper roll prepress process.

Além disso, a escassez hídrica vivida por muitos países, dentre eles o Brasil, faz ressaltar a necessidade de uso consciente e preservação do recurso água, seja pelas pessoas ou pelas empresas. Desta forma, o presente artigo teve como objetivo elaborar um plano de ação para a falta de tratamento dos efluentes gerados pelo processo de pré-impressão de bobinas de papel, realizado em uma grande empresa de embalagens em Curitiba. Conduzido pela metodologia Produção Mais Limpa (P+L), cumpriram-se seis etapas para chegar ao resultado final: realizar o plano de ação para a implementação da oportunidade de melhoria selecionada.
