Resumo: Biodiesel is a fuel with environmental and ecological concepts. It is a strong energy alternative and has the power to supply practically the same characteristics of conventional diesel oil. It can be produced from vegetable or animal fat, or from the recycling of residual vegetable oil discarded by society. Residual oil presents a serious environmental problem, since it is capable, with only one liter, contaminating one milion liters of water. The reuse of residual soybean oil has great industrial and governmental interest and its disposal should be controlled by the awareness of society. The preparation of biodiesel requires several steps, from the preparation of the raw material to its purification. The most usual synthetic reaction to produce biodiesel is the transesterification with homogeneous catalysts, with the glycerin as secondary product. This work studies the production of biodiesel, with a yield of 98% and analyzes the characteristics that define the raw material (acidity index, saponification index and average molar mass) and the fuel itself (viscosity, specific mass, plugging point and flash point). In addition, this document proposes the production of biodiesel from the purification of residual vegetable oil, raising an economic potential of R$ 1.63/kg.

Universidade Federal de Viçosa - UFV2018-03-02info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.ufv.br/jcec/article/view/249610.18540/jcecvl4iss1pp0101-0108The Journal of Engineering and Exact Sciences; Vol. 4 No. 1 (2018); 0101-0108The Journal of Engineering and Exact Sciences; Vol. 4 Núm. 1 (2018); 0101-0108The Journal of Engineering and Exact Sciences; v. 4 n. 1 (2018); 0101-01082527-1075reponame:The Journal of Engineering and Exact Sciencesinstname:Universidade Federal de Viçosa (UFV)instacron:UFVporhttps://periodicos.ufv.br/jcec/article/view/2496/1047De Rossi, Gustavo ZanettiBorges, Ivan RochaPerego, Thayane FerreiraToledo, Victor Dallacqua MadeiraFerreira, Luis Fernando Peffiinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess2018-12-05T12:57:23Zoai:ojs.periodicos.ufv.br:article/2496Revistahttp://www.seer.ufv.br/seer/rbeq2/index.php/req2/oai2527-10752527-1075opendoar:2018-12-05T12:57:23The Journal of Engineering and Exact Sciences - Universidade Federal de Viçosa (UFV)false
