Characterization of the precursor material of the lead acid batteries plates with carbon additive in graphite form

Resumo: | The lead-acid battery is one of the most commonly used energy accumulators. Therefore, the implementation of additives for better performance in these batteries has been taking place in recent years, boosting studies in this area. In the present work, we aimed to understand how the different concentrations of carbon additives in the form of graphite in the lead-acid battery plates influence its morphological and crystalline structure. For this, miniplates (without and with additive) were made and analyzed by the techniques of Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD). It was concluded that the morphology changes drastically in the concentrations of 1 and 2% of additive in relation to the morphology of the material without additive, which was not observed for the concentrations of 0.5 and 0.75%. No differences were found in the crystalline phases between the samples. |

Com isso, a implementação de aditivos para melhor performance nessas baterias vem ocorrendo nos últimos anos, impulsionando estudos nessa área. No presente trabalho, objetivou-se entender como as diferentes concentrações de aditivos de carbono na forma de grafite nas placas de baterias chumbo-ácido influenciam sua estrutura morfológica e cristalina. Para isso, miniplacas, sem e com aditivo, foram confeccionadas e analisadas pelas técnicas de Microscopia Eletrônica de Varredura (MEV) e Difração de Raios-X (DRX). Conclui-se que a morfologia muda drasticamente nas concentrações de 1 e 2% de aditivo em relação à morfologia do material sem aditivo, o que não foi observado para as concentrações de 0,5 e 0,75%.
