Resumo: | The purpose of radiation protection is to provide appropriate protection to humans for the use of radiation in all its known forms, with an acceptable risk both for personnel working with X-rays and for the public and future generations. Due to the potential X-rays risks that can cause, no unnecessary exposure should be allowed. The ALARA (as low as reasonable achievable) principle that leads radiological protection in all exposures, for our case we will handle it as “As low as reasonably practical”. The aim of this work is to make interventional cardiologists and decision-makers aware of the importance to establish a training program in radiation protection. |

The aim of this work is to make interventional cardiologists and decision-makers aware of the importance to establish a training program in radiation protection.El objetivo de la protección radiológica es permitir el aprovechamiento de la radiación en todas sus formas conocidas, con un riesgo aceptable tanto para el personal que trabaja con los rayos X como para la población en general y las generaciones futuras. Debido al potencial daño que pueden ocasionar los rayos X, no se debe permitir ninguna exposición innecesaria. El principio que gobierna la protección radiológica en todas las exposiciones se conoce con el nombre de ALARA (as low as reasonable achievable) que se traduce como: “Tan bajo como sea razonablemente posible” para nuestro caso lo manejaremos como Tan bajo como sea razonablemente práctico. El objetivo de este trabajo es poder concientizar a los médicos cardiólogos intervencionistas y a los tomadores de decisiones de la importancia de establecer un programa de capacitación y entrenamiento en protección radiológica.O objetivo da proteção radiológica é permitir o uso da radiação em todas as suas formas conhecidas, com um risco aceitável tanto para o pessoal que trabalha com raios X quanto para a população em geral e as gerações futuras. Devido ao dano potencial que os raios X podem causar, nenhuma exposição desnecessária deve ser permitida. O princípio que rege a proteção radiológica em todas as exposições é conhecido como ALARA (tão baixo quanto razoável alcançável), que se traduz como: "O mais baixo possível" para o nosso caso, vamos tratá-lo tão baixo quanto razoavelmente prático.
