Resumo: The present work aims to carry out an analysis of the environmental impacts caused by the road transport mode. To this end, bibliographic research was carried out on the expansion of highways in Brazil and its unfolding in relation to environmental impacts. In this sense, it can be seen that there is a strong relationship between road expansion and environmental impacts. The result of this study proves the need for greater attention to sustainability related to the road transport mode.

Para este fim, desenvolveu-se uma pesquisa bibliográfica sobre a expansão das rodovias no Brasil e o seu desdobramento em relação aos impactos ambientais. Neste sentido, pôde ser constatado que há uma relação forte entre expansão de rodovias e impactos ambientais.
