Timber based companies’ profile in the municipality of Salvador

Resumo: The aim of this study is to survey the characteristics of enterprises which provide timber products for civil construction in the city of Salvador (BA). Data was collected through a structured interviews applied in timber based companies that comercialize products for the civil construction industry. The main wood species commercialized are maçaranduba (Manilkara spp) and pinus (Pinus spp.). It was observed that sawnwood consumed is mostly from the states of Pará (44%) and Santa Catarina (18%).

Os dados foram coletados através de um questionário aplicado nas empresas que comercializam madeira para a indústria da construção civil. As principais espécies madeiras comercializadas são maçaranduba (Manilkara spp) e pinus (Pinus spp.).
