Resumo: | The present article deals with a theoretical debate about coloniality and racial quotas to enter Brazilian higher education and how these two events, even if they occurred at different times, are correlated. The text, in a second moment, points to how the debates about races and identities arose and how they were used in a comprehensive way in order to create a supposed “social place” for them. It also points out how affirmative actions emerge in Brazil, as well as, the main arguments in the clash between the negative and positive aspects of racial quotas will be presented, in order to show how these can be the way out of breaking this segregationist cycle that still exists today, to provide democratization. |
