Resumo: The type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (DM II) is a highly prevalent endocrine disorder and primary prevention is an important means of controlling it in the population. Thus, this project aimed to carry out educational actions on DM II, aimed at Youth and Adult Education in the municipality of Rondonópolis/MT. Risk factors were measured and lectures and discussions were held with the participants (n=30). No changes were observed in capillary blood glucose, however, more than 40% of students, aged between 12 and 55 years, were in the ranges of overweight and obesity to varying degrees, 20% had blood pressure in the normal-high range and in 13,33% stage I hypertension was observed. Finally, the educational actions carried out allowed, in addition to the acquistion of knowledge, the exchange of experiences on DM II in a democratic way and respecting the different knowledge of the young people and adults involved.

Así, este proyecto tuvo como objetivo realizar acciones educativas sobre DM II, dirigidas a la Educación de Jóvenes y Adultos en el municipio de Rondonópolis/MT. Se midieron los factores de riesgo y se realizaron charlas y discusiones con los participantes (n=30). No se observaron cambios en la glucemia capilar, sin embargo, más del 40% de los estudiantes, con edades entre 12 y 55 años, se encontraban en los rangos de sobrepeso y obesidad en diversos grados, el 20% tenían presión arterial en el rango normal-alto 13,33% se observo hipertensión arterial estadio I. Finalmente, las acciones educativas realizadas permitieron, además de la aquisición de conocimientos, el intercambio de experiencias sobre DM II de manera democrática y respetando los diferentes saberes de los jóvenes y adultos involucrados. O Diabetes Mellitus tipo II (DM II) é uma disfunção endócrina de elevada prevalência, sendo a prevenção primária um meio importante para o seu controle na população. Assim, este projeto objetivou a realização de ações de caráter educativo sobre o DM II, voltadas a Educação de Jovens e Adultos (EJA) no município de Rondonópolis/MT. Foram realizadas aferições dos fatores de risco e a realização de palestras e discussões com os participantes (n=30). Não foram observadas alterações na glicemia capilar, contudo, mais de 40% dos alunos, com idades entre 12 e 55 anos, estavam nas faixas de sobrepeso e obesidade em graus variados, 20% tiveram pressão arterial na faixa de normal-alto e em 13,33% se observou estágio I de hipertensão.
