Resumo: The Biribiri Natural State Park (PEBI), located in Diamantina/MG, is a protected area for indirect used. The inhabitants of the interior and around the PEBI suffer restrictions on use of natural resources by the rules imposed to protected areas law and others environmental laws that also restrict the development of several traditional activities. This work is the result of an extension project, developed by students of tourism course of UFVJM, and sought to understanding mains of restrictions on use of natural resources natural resources for these residents and how they react to the imposition of these laws, consider the importance of natural resources conservation . For that purpose were doing bibliographic research, cabinet research, preparation of textbooks, mobilization and holding workshops with the communities surrounding the PEBI. The development of these workshops was enabled the answer several questions from the community and proved to be a potential tool for engaging communities with the purpose of environmental preservation.

Os moradores do interior e entorno do PEBI sofrem restrições de uso dos recursos naturais pelas normas impostas pela Lei do Sistema Nacional de Unidades de Conservação (SNUC), e outras leis ambientais que restringem o desenvolvimento de diversas atividades tradicionais. Assim, este trabalho, que é fruto de um projeto de extensão desenvolvido por alunos do Curso de Turismo da UFVJM, procurou compreender as principais restrições impostas aos moradores do interior e entorno do PEBI e como eles reagem às imposições da legislação, tendo em vista a importância da preservação dos recursos naturais pelas comunidades locais. Para tanto, realizou-se pesquisa bibliográfica, pesquisa de gabinete, elaboração de cartilha, mobilização e realização de oficinas com comunidades do entorno do PEBI.
