Mobility and vulnerability in northern coastline São Paulo: scalar joints between the place and the region in contemporary urbanization

Resumo: In Brazilian urbanization, witnessed continuous metropolization and the formation of urban agglomerations that exceed the dimension of intraurban forming urbanized regions larger and interconnected complicit in the production processes of risk. In thissense, the regional scale is fundamental to integrate local processes (manifested in place) and those of higher order, such as the spatial distribution of population and environmental changes. We explore this discussion on the North Coast of São Paulo, a region that undergoes environmental changes of all kinds, while processes that witnesses population change, with large developments, intense urbanization and consequences of the recent Metropolitan Region and the Paraíba Valley North Coast, created in 2012. From the analysis of specific places, problematize the relationship vulnerability of place, contextualized in regional urban agglomeration Caraguatatuba and San Sebastian, largest conurbation in the region.

Nesse sentido, a escala regional torna-se fundamental para integrar processos locais (que se manifestam no lugar) e aqueles de ordem maior, como a distribuição espacial da população e as mudanças ambientais. Exploramos esta discussão no Litoral Norte do Estado de São Paulo, região que passa por mudanças ambientais de toda ordem, ao mesmo tempo em que presencia processos de mudança populacional, com grandes empreendimentos, intensa urbanização e consequências à recente Região Metropolitana do Vale do Paraíba e Litoral Norte, criada em 2012.
