Al?m disso, o interesse das ind?strias e institutos de pesquisa por plantas medicinais tamb?m aumentou. A esp?cie Ageratum fastigiatum (Gardner) RM King & H. Rob (Asteraceae) ? conhecida popularmente como Matapasto ou Enxota e, ocorre naturalmente na regi?o de Cerrado, inclusive no munic?pio de Diamantina (MG), regi?o do Vale do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri. Essa planta ? utiliza com anti-inflamat?rio, analg?sico e cicatrizante usado topicamente em prepara??es alco?licas ou hidroalco?licas. Assim se faz necess?rio a triagem toxicol?gica da esp?cie bot?nica. A planta foi colhida no Campus JK da UFVJM e foram preparados o extrato etan?lico bruto das partes a?reas e suas fases hex?nica, dicloromet?nica e hidroalco?lica atrav?s de parti??o liquido-liquido. Foi realizado um screening fitoqu?mico para a identifica??o das principais classes de metab?litos especiais nas fases. Na fase hex?nica foram detectados cumarinas e triterpenos/esteroides; na fase dicloromet?nica foram detectados cumarinas, triterpenos/esteroides e taninos hidrolis?veis, na fase hidroalco?lica foram detectados alcaloides, cumarinas, saponinas, triterpenos/esteroides e taninos hidrolis?veis. Foi feita a an?lise das fases hex?nica e dicloromet?nica em CG/EM e foram identificados sesquiterpenos, constituintes graxos, triterpenos, base nitrogenada, monossacar?deo, alcaloide pirrolizid?nico (licopsamina), alde?do,cetona, compostos fen?licos. Foi utilizada CLAE/DAD para an?lise do perfil fitoqu?mico da fase hidroalco?lica, observando-se a presen?a de prov?vel de constituintes poliinsaturados. Para a triagem toxicol?gica do extrato bruto e de suas fases foram empregadas duas metodologias: ensaio de letalidade com o microcrust?ceo Artemia salina Leach, e o ensaio de viabilidade de c?lulas da linhagem L929, proveniente de tecido conjuntivo de camundongo. Os resultados demonstraram certa toxicidade do extrato e das fases, utilizando a artemia a fase hidroalco?lica apresentou maior toxicidade apresentando CL50 de 1,333mg/mL e o extrato etan?lico bruto obteve CL50 de 4,814mg/mL, sendo o menos t?xico. No ensaio com as c?lulas L929 a fase dicloromet?nica foi a mais t?xica, chegando a reduzir 95,48% da viabilidade das c?lulas e apresentando CC50 de 11,39 ?g/mL e a fase hidroalco?lica foi considerada a menos t?xica apresentando porcentagem de morte celular variando de 55,67 a 19,38, com CC50 de 174,2 ?g/mL. In addition, the interest of industries and research institutes for medicinal plants has also increased. The species Ageratum fastigiatum (Gardner) RM King & H. Rob (Asteraceae) is popularly known as Matapasto or Enxota and occurs naturally in the Cerrado region, including in the municipality of Diamantina (MG), Jequitinhonha Valley and Mucuri region. This plant is used with anti-inflammatory, analgesic and healing used topically in alcoholic or hydroalcoholic preparations. Thus, it is necessary the toxicological screening of the botanical species. The plant was harvested at Campus JK of the UFVJM and the crude ethanolic extract of the aerial parts and their hexane, dichloromethane and hydroalcoholic phases were prepared through a liquid-liquid partition. A phytochemical screening was carried out to identify the main classes of special metabolites in the phases. In the hexane phase coumarins and triterpenes / steroids were detected; in the dichloromethane phase, coumarins, triterpenes / steroids and hydrolysable tannins were detected. In the hydroalcoholic phase, alkaloids, coumarins, saponins, triterpenes / steroids and hydrolysable tannins were detected. The hexane and dichloromethane phases were analyzed in GC / MS and sesquiterpenes, fatty constituents, triterpenes, nitrogenous base, monosaccharide, pyrrolizidine alkaloid (licopsamine), aldehyde, ketone and phenolic compounds were identified. It was used CLAE / DAD to analyze the phytochemical profile of the hydroalcoholic phase, observing the presence of probable polyunsaturated constituents. For the toxicological screening of the crude extract and its phases two methodologies were used: lethality test with the microcrack Artemia salina Leach, and the viability assay of L929 lineage cells from mouse connective tissue. The results showed a certain toxicity of the extract and the phases, using the artemia the hydroalcoholic phase presented higher toxicity presenting LC50 of 1,333mg / mL and the raw ethanolic extract obtained LC50 of 4.814mg / mL, being the least toxic. In the L929 cell assay the dichloromethane phase was the most toxic, reducing 95.48% of cell viability and presenting CC50 of 11.39 ?g / mL and the hydroalcoholic phase was considered to be less toxic, with a percentage of cell death varying from 55.67 to 19.38, with CC50 of 174.2 ?g / mL.
