O objetivo do presente trabalho foi quantificar, isolar e caracterizar a popula??o de bact?rias diazotr?ficas endof?ticas e rizosf?rica em Eucalyptus e Corymbia e verificar a resposta de sensibilidade em plantas n?o alvo. A popula??o de bact?rias diazotr?ficas de folhas, ra?zes e rizosfera em Eucalyptus cloeziana, h?brido Eucalyptus urophylla x Eucalyptus grandis (urograndis) e Corymbia citriodora foi quantificada pelo m?todo do n?mero mais prov?vel, cultivadas em meio semis?lido livre de nitrog?nio. A partir dos cultivos semi-seletivos para quantifica??o de diazotr?fico foram isoladas 87 bact?rias. Estas estirpes foram caracterizadas morfologicamente por tipo de c?lulas e de col?nias; bioquimicamente pela produ??o de enzimas amilase, catalase, esterase-lipase, oxidase, urease e nitrato redutase e pela produ??o de ?cido indol-3-ac?tico (AIA), bacteriocinas, sider?foro e solubilizadores de fosfatos. A caracteriza??o gen?tica dos isolados foi estimada pela dist?ncia de dissimilaridade, por meio dos descritores morfol?gicos e bioqu?micos. A intera??o entre diazotr?ficos-plantas sem causar sintomas de doen?a foi verificada pelo m?todo da rea??o de hipersensibilidade induzida em plantas n?o alvo Capsicum annuum, Nicotiana tabacum e Solanum lycopersicum. Uma cole??o de bact?rias com potenciais promotores de crescimento vegetal foi estabelecida de maneira a preservar linhagens para investiga??es posteriores sobre seu potencial como inoculante para o setor florestal. Todos as 87 estirpes bacterianas al?m de fixarem N apresentaram a capacidade de produzir pelo menos mais um dos produtos investigados. A frequ?ncia das m?ltiplas fun??es foi de 92% para a catalase, 57,5% para fosfatase, 67% para urease, 69% para nitrato redutase, 40% para esteraselipase, 24% produ??o de sider?foro e 83% produ??o de ?cido indol-3-ac?tico. A diversidade microbiana gerou 38 grupos bacterianos, de Eucalyptus e Corymbia e microambientes diferentes, de interesse biotecnol?gico agron?mico e industrial. A atividade microbiana produtora de AIA dependente de L-triptofano foi observada em Herbaspirillum spp., Burkholderia spp., e Azospirillum spp. naturais dos tr?s microambientes da planta hospedeira, com produ??o de at? 411,3 ?g mL-1, escolhendo 28 estirpes. O ?ndice de solubilidade de P por bact?rias diazotr?ficas na forma de P-org?nico e P-inorg?nico selecionou de 38 estirpes com moderada a alta capacidade de solubiliza??o. As estirpes CctRZlgi-124, EhiFjnfb-34 e EhiFjnfb-36 podem ser utilizadas no controle biol?gico, com a??o antagonista a cepas de Xanthomonas spp. Todas as estirpes apresentaram resposta negativa a rea??o de hipersensibilidade induzida, significando potenciais agentes endof?ticos e rizosf?ricos ben?ficos as plantas de eucalipto. A densidade diazotr?fica em plantas de Corymbia citriodora, h?brido urograndis e Eucalyptus cloeziana diminui na medida que h? o afastamento do microambiente rizosf?rico para microambientes da filosfera, como ra?zes e folhas. A modifica??o da densidade de c?lulas bacterianas diazotr?ficas ? dada em fun??o do gen?tipo da planta hospedeira e ao microambiente. O clone Corymbia citriodora apresentou densidade maior que em rela??o ao h?brido urograndis e ao E. cloeziana. The objective of the present work was to quantify, isolate and characterize the population of endophytic and rhizospheric diazotrophic bacteria in Eucalyptus and Corymbia and to verify the sensitivity response in non-target plants. The population of diazotrophic leaf, root and rhizosphere bacteria in Eucalyptus cloeziana, Eucalyptus urophylla x Eucalyptus grandis hybrids (urograndis) and Corymbia citriodora were quantified by the most probable number method, grown in nitrogen - free semi - solid medium. From the semi-selective cultures for diazotrophic quantification, 87 bacteria were isolated. These strains were characterized morphologically by cell type and colony; biochemically by the production of amylase, catalase, esterase-lipase, oxidase, urease and nitrate reductase enzymes and by the production of indole-3-acetic acid (AIA), bacteriocins, siderophore and phosphate solubilizers. The genetic characterization of the isolates was estimated by the distance of dissimilarity, through the morphological and biochemical descriptors. The interaction between diazotrophic plants without causing disease symptoms was verified by the induced hypersensitivity reaction method in non-target plants Capsicum annuum, Nicotiana tabacum and Solanum lycopersicum. A collection of bacteria with potential plant growth promoters has been established in order to preserve lineages for further investigation of their potential as an inoculant for the forest sector. All bacterial strains besides fixing N had the capacity to produce at least one more of the investigated products. The frequency of the multiple functions was 92% for catalase, 57.5% for phosphatase, 67% for urease, 69% for nitrate reductase, 40% for esterase-lipase, 24% siderophore production, and 83% indole acid production -3-acetic acid. The microbial diversity generated 38 bacterial groups, Eucalyptus and Corymbia and different microenvironments, of agronomic and industrial biotechnological interest. L-tryptophan-dependent AIA producing microbial activity was observed in Herbaspirillum spp., Burkholderia spp. and Azospirillum spp. of the three microenvironments of the host plant, yielding up to 411.3 ?g mL-1, choosing 28 strains. The solubility index of P by diazotrophic bacteria in the form of P-organic and P-inorganic selected from 38 strains with moderate to high solubilization capacity. The strains CctRZlgi-124, EhiFjnfb-34 and EhiFjnfb-36 can be used in biological control, with antagonistic action to strains of Xanthomonas spp. All strains showed a negative response to the induced hypersensitivity reaction, signifying potential endophytic and rhizospheric agents beneficial to eucalyptus plants. The diazotrophic density in plants of Corymbia citriodora, urograndis hybrid and Eucalyptus cloeziana decreases as there is a move away from the rhizospheric microenvironment to microenvironments of the phyllosphere, such as roots and leaves. The density modification of diazotrophic bacterial cells is given as a function of the genotype of the host plant and the microenvironment. The Corymbia citriodora clone presented higher density than that of the urograndis hybrid and E. cloeziana.
