Portanto, neste trabalho foi realizado a caracteriza??o de um SAT formado por poli(vinilpirrolidona) MM = 10 000 g mol-1 (PVP), poli(etileno glicol) MM = 10 000 g mol-1 (PEG), sulfato de l?tio e ?gua. Os resultados mostram que de forma geral, h? uma maior concentra??o de PEG, PVP e Li2SO4 nas fases superior, central e inferior, respectivamente, e que a ?gua ? o componente majorit?rio do sistema em todas as fases. O diagrama de fase do SAT foi determinado variando-se a concentra??o dos componentes no sistema e a temperatura (288,15, 298,15 e 308,15 K). Em um diagrama de fase de coordenadas tridimensionais foi poss?vel visualizar um plano que forma uma ?rea triangular de amarra??o (ATA), composto pelos pontos de composi??o de fases e o ponto global. A ATA decresce com a diminui??o das concentra??es globais (CG) dos tr?s componentes no sistema. Em concentra??es mais elevadas as ?reas s?o maiores, indicando que h? uma maior diferen?a de composi??o entre as fases. Foi demonstrado que sistemas com CG em uma mesma ATA possuem propriedades intensivas semelhantes e extensivas distintas (sempre comparado cada fase separadamente), comportamento similar ?s linhas de amarra??o dos sistemas aquosos bif?sicos. Os SAT mostraram um grande efeito de temperatura na forma??o de fases, onde um aumento de T promove um incremento na regi?o trif?sica, indicando uma contribui??o entalpica endot?rmica. Al?m disso, em concentra??es globais menores, um comportamento de invers?o de fases entre a fase rica em eletr?lito e a fase rica em PVP foi observado na temperatura de 308,15 K. Estudos de parti??o de ?ons Cu (II) no SAT mostraram que este ?on interage de forma mais eficiente com a fase rica em sal, onde o aumento da ATA provoca um incremento nesta tend?ncia. ? 298,15 K, em concentra??es globais menores, o ?on Cu(II) promove a invers?o de fases, fen?meno semelhante ao observado no estudo do efeito de temperatura. O aumento da temperatura do meio reacional tamb?m promove um incremento na concentra??o do Cu(II) para a fase rica em PVP. Programa de P?s-Gradua??o em Qu?mica, Universidade Federal dos Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri, 2019.The aqueous three-phase systems (A3PS) have been used for extraction and separation of several strategic analytes, however, there are no characterization works and definition of theorical basic fundamentals for this technique. Therefore, in this work was performed the characterization of a A3PS formed by poly(vinylpyrrolidone) MM = 10,000 g mol-1(PVP), poly (ethylene glycol) MM = 10,000 g mol-1(PEG), lithium sulfate and water. The results show that the most part of the PEG, PVP and Li2SO4 are the top, central and botton phases, respectively, and the majoritary component in all phases is water. The A3PS phase diagram was obtained in function of the variation of components concentration and temperature (288.15, 298.15 and 308.15 K). The phase diagram of three-dimensional coordinates generates a plane that forms a tie-area triangular (TAT), composed by points of composition of phases and the global point. The TAT decreases with the decrease of global point (GP) of the 3 components in the system, and the TAT increase becomes the difference between the phases thermodynamics propriets biggest. The A3PS showed a strong temperature effect on the phase formation, where an increase of temperature promotes an increase in the three-phase region, indicating an endothermic enthalpy contribution. Moreover, at lower overall concentrations, a phase inversion behavior between the electrolyte rich phase and the PVP rich phase was observed at the temperature of 308.15 K. Cu(II) ion partition studies in the A3PS showed that this ion interacts more efficiently with the salt rich phase, where the TAT increase causes an increase in this tendency. At 298.15 K, at lower overall concentrations, the Cu(II) ion promotes phase inversion, a phenomenon similar to that observed in the study of the temperature. The increase in the temperature of the reaction medium also promotes an increase in the concentration of Cu(II) to the phase rich in PVP.
