Resumo: | During the period comprehended between 05/05/2006 to 27/10/2006 it was carried out an experiment with the Rebeca long shelf life hybrid of tomato. The experiment was performed at the Fitotecnia Departament of the University Federal de Viçosa in a greenhouse with hydroponic sub-irrigation system, using expanded clay as substratum. The tomato seedlings were produced in phenolic foam daily irrigated with nutrient solution until they reach the stage of four to six leaves. At that stage the seedlings were transplanted to the cultivation beds. The experimental design was a factorial 4x2 with treatments arranged in split plot. Three repetitions were performed. The first factor was constituted by the densities of 11.1; 8.3; 6.6 and 5.5 plants.m-2.The second factor was constituted by numbers of trusses, which means that the plants were conducted with one or two trusses, leaving themselves three leaves above the truss. The apical cuttings were made when all the plants were with three leaves above of 1° or 2° truss. There were used the nutrient solutions described by Fernandes et al. (2002) to vegetative and reproductive growths. At the end of the experiment there were evaluated the yield, fruits quality, and the tomato plant nutritional status. The fruits were collected for analysis when reached full red color. At the fruits harvest the foliar analysis was done to determine the plant nutritional status. The fruits characteristics mean weight diameter, fruit wall thickness, fruit pH, fruit dry weight, soluble solids, citric acid, total carotenoid and lycopen, plus leaflets and stem dry weigh, and the high of the first truss insertion in the stem had not been presented significant differences between the treatments. The plants had produced fruits with 183.64 g in average, 72.7 mm of diameter and 9,6 mm of fruit wall thickness. Among the factors evaluated only number of trusses had positive effect on yield per plant. The total productivity per area was influenced by the interaction density x number of truss per plant. For nutrients, the total-N in the leaf increased with an increase in the planting density of 5.5 to 6.6 plants per m2, and having subsequent decrease. The levels of boron in the leaf increased linearly with the increase of planting density and the levels of zinc in the leaf decreased linearly with the increase of density. The total-N, P and Zn contents in the fruits decreased linearly with the increase of density. There were no significant differences for other nutrients. Differences in the mineral nutrients contents in the leaves and tomatoes fruits not undertaken the yield nor the fruit quality. The treatment which has the largest yield was 11.1 plants per m2 with two trusses whose yield was 22.61 kg.m-2 or 226.1 t.ha-1 in a 134 days of cultivation. |
