Legislação ambiental e reprodução socioeconômica de pequenos produtores rurais da microbacia hidrográfica do Córrego do Grama, Coimbra/MG

This study includes the results of the survey of households Basin of Grass Creek, city of Coimbra-MG. The purpose of this study was to investigate and analyze the relationship between environmental legislation in relation to areas of permanent preservation and legal reserve, and socioeconomic reproduction of smallholders. Specifically, we reflect on and analyze the dynamics of socioeconomic reproduction of small landowners, faced with recent changes that have occurred both in the global economy, the relations between country and city, investigate and analyze the perception of small farmers in relation the environmental legislation in the context of socioeconomic realities experienced by them, to relate the situations of use and occupancy of APP s and RL of small farms with the Legal Status effect (Brazilian Forest Code, 1965). The research, qualitative in nature, specifically a case study, had the techniques of data collection: questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, direct observation and information in field notebook. The study relied on theoretical references that discuss the Brazilian countryside and reproduction of small landowners, as well as analysis of the history and developments of Environmental Law in Brazil and the submissions and barriers (political, economic, cultural) that the small farmer has suffered throughout Brazilian history. The results show a rural population aging process, accompanied by the migration of the children in search of better living conditions. In general, the socioeconomic reproduction relies on agricultural production for subsistence, and retirement and income transfer programs of the government deciding factors in this process. With regard to environmental legislation, the small farmers surveyed did not comply, although realize its importance outside the protection and recovery of environmental heritage. We conclude that the current environmental legislation comes as another obstacle to socioeconomic reproduction and persistence of small farmers in the field, given the physical characteristics and climate of the region which includes the study area, such as rugged terrain and abundance of water bodies.
