Uso de três anestésicos pelo método de aspersão branquial em adultos de peixes de produção

Was evaluated the efficiency of clove oil, menthol and benzocaine as an anesthetic for trairão (Hoplias lacerdae), piavuçu (Leporinus macrocephalus) and curimbatá (Prochilodus lineatus). The fish (n=3) were individually exposed to concentrations of 100, 125, 150, 175 mg L-1, except trairão, to this fish were used the concentrations 150, 175, 200 and 250 mg L-1, because the tests with the previous concentrations, and they did not respond positively. The method used to expose the animals to the anesthetic was sprays in the gills. The parameters to evaluated the anesthesia effects were: sedative effect and sensitivity responses to touch. After anesthesia was performed biometric. The recovery was conducted in aquarium, containing 300 liters of anesthetic free running water. The time of induction and recovery was recorded for each fish. It was evaluated the time return to fed and the mortality after anesthetic induction. It was confirmed the efficient effect of the three anesthetics at all concentrations tested for trairão and curimbatá. We also observed the efficiency of clove oil and benzocaine in piavuçu. No concentration of menthol was able to induce anesthesia in piavuçu, and the concentrations used did not affect the statistical time of recovery from paivuçu, curimbatá and trairão. The anesthesia time return of fish anesthetized with clove oil was greater among anesthetics in the study with piavuçu and curimbatá.
