Resumo: The objective of this study was to develop a model to aid in the management of forest that would be partially submitted to thinnings. The model guild comprises six phases, or components as follows: diagnosis, decision, modeling, prognosis, regulation and research. It was applied in two studies of case. In the study of case 1, information about planted area, production destination, plantation localization, genetic materials used and forest inventory data will be used to aid the decision phase. Next the modeling phase was carried out, beginning with the productive capacity of the stands through the guide curve method. For the stands treated with thinning, the percentual ingresses method was used to define the thinning technical age (ITD), and the result was a 85 months ITD. For the stands without this treatment the Clutter method was used, and it was adjusted separately by genetic material and region. The prognosis phase was carried out through the building of increment curves taking into account various site classes, resulting in ITCs (technical age cut) for each genetic material. The research phase was carried out in the beginning of the establishment process of the management model in the enterprise, with the establishment of two types of experiments. In the study of case 2 changes in common growth and production models were done to consider growth trends and stands with and without the thinning treatment. The resulting functional relations were adjusted to data from a thinning experiment. When developing and applying the management model it was possible to conclude that: the classification o the productive capacity must be specific for each group o genetic material with some similar characteristics; modeling and later the prognosis of the stands carried out without thinning should also be made separately for each genetic material; the Clutter model is suitable or the prognosis of not thinned stands but has limitations for the management of thinned stands; the percentual ingresses method is suitable to determine the technical thinning age of compartments carried out with thinning, growth and production models for management of forest submitted the thinning should be flexible enough to result in different growth trends after thinning; the six phases of the management model proposed were considered as suited to aid the enterprises who desire to, change from the management of a single product to the multiproduct management.
