Variação citogenética em populações de Scinax tripui Lourenço, Nascimento e Pires, 2009 (Anura, Hylidae): primeira detecção de sistema de cromossomos sexuais no gênero

Scinax tripui is a treefrog hylid and is a member of the Scinax catharinae species group, the biggest group of the genus Scinax and the clade Scinax catharinae. Its type-locality is the Tripui Ecological Station, in the municipality of Ouro Preto, in the State of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Populations morphologically similar to this species have also been reported in other localities in Minas Gerais, but due to the complex taxonomy of this species group, their taxonomic status remains uncertain. In order to increase the number of characters to be used to identify populations of S. tripui this study aimed to test the species cytogenetic identity (Giemsa, C and NOR-banding, and FISH) in four populations of S. tripui. The following populations were analyzed: the type-locality Tripui Ecological Station in Ouro Preto city, samples from the Serra do Brigadeiro State Park in the municipality of Araponga; RRPN Mata do Sossego in the municipality of Simonésia, Fumaça Dam Reservoir in the municipality of Muriaé, all localities are in the State of Minas Gerais, Brazil. All specimens shared the same diploid number, but chromosome morphology differed among the species of the genus Scinax. S. tripui showed a XX/XY sex chromosome system, the first reported for Scinax. Consistent different patterns of C, NOR-banding and FISH between the populations of S. tripui indicate multiple chromosome rearrangements.
