Resumo: | Stinkbug as Podisus nigrispinus (Dallas) (Heteroptera: Pentatomidae) they can, occasionally, they be fed of plants. That behavior is important for the survival of those predators in situations of prey s shortage. The addition of plants to the diet has been increasing the acting of P. nigrispinus, for supplying water and, possibly, nutritious to that predator. Podisus nigrispinus can be benefitted or not for the phytophagy in the cotton agroecosystem depending on the cultivated variety. Like this, it was studied the effect of cotton plants Gossypium hirsutum L r. latifolium Hutch. (Malvaceae) variety " XG 15 " with high gossypol tenor in the biology of P. nigrispinus with the experiments: (i) effect of the plants in the biological cycle of that predator with daily readiness of arrested, being placed your eggs in plants and your females until the death; (ii) effect of the plants in the parameters of the table of life of fertility of P. nigrispinus, and (iii) effect of concentrations of the gossypol, through liquid diet, in the development and reproduction of P. nigrispinus. The duration of the second, third and fourth stadiums, of the phase ninfal, the adults' weight, the longevity and the reproductive parameters of P. nigrispinus were similar with cotton plants with or without gossypol. The survival ninfal of that predator was similar among treatments, with values above 90%. The time of generation (TG) and that for the population of P. nigrispinus to bend in number of individuals (TD) they were larger for females of that predator, just, with arrested, but fellow creature among the cotton plants with or without gossypol. The specific fertility (mx) of P. nigrispinus it was larger to the 28 days of age (week seven) in all the treatments. Females of P. nigrispinus lived up to 14 weeks in cotton plants with gossypol and in the control, while those in plants without gossypol lived up to 13 weeks. P. nigrispinus had maximum reproductive value (RVx) in the third and fourth weeks after the adults' emergency in all the treatments. The duration of the phase ninfal of P. nigrispinus was prolongated with the increase of the concentration of the gossypol, but the survival of this phase was not affected. The pre-oviposition period was not affected by the gossypol. The increase of the concentration of the extract reduced the number and the viability of eggs of P. nigrispinus. The gossypol extract, just, in the phase ninfal it didn't affect the pre-oviposition period, number and viability of eggs of P. nigrispinus. The curves of survival of females of that predator, exposed to the concentrations of the gossypol extract during the phase ninfal, they were similar, but the ones that received the largest concentration of the extract, just, in the adult phase they lived for more time. Cotton plants with high gossypol tenor don' affect the development, reproduction and the population growth of P. nigrispinus, what makes possible the use of those plants of form synergistic with the biological control for that predator in the cotton s agroecosystem. |
