To focus a family as an analysis object implies in recognizing it not as a closed system, but a unit with intra and interfamily relationships which are important for its maintenance and continuity. Thus, it is of fundamental importance to emphasize the social nets of family support mainly when it is focused at a single parent family, which do not longer have one of the spouse to share household chores, to take care and have responsibilities with the children and many times to count on limited financial resources for the family support and reorganization of its routine. By this context, the problem of this work was to study the impact of separation or divorce on administration of many life domains as well as to analyze social nets of child custody holder living in Viçosa-MG by the new reality of the family group. The analyzed life domains were: remunerated job, family income, personal education, household chores, education of the children, children care, leisure and spiritual life. Thus, the objective of this work was to investigate changes in the management of life domains by children custody holders by dissolution of married society, as well as the process of construction or consolidation of the social nets. This study, which had an exploratory-descriptive nature, had as its population men and women living in Viçosa-MG, holders of children unilateral custody who had been through divorce or separation, started in the period from 2006 to 2008 and finished in 2008. The sample was intentional inasmuch as the selection was based on the objective of the study, which was obtained at random through direct contact with the subjects and counted 18 children s custody holders. For quantitative data obtained through interview, univariate analysis was used and concerning to qualitative treatment of information, content analysis was held. Separation or divorce was the motivating factor of construction or consolidation of most social nets. Weakness of the nets was due mainly to family income domain. Most nets were constituted of member of the family, as for example former spouse, children, parents, siblings, grandmothers, cousins, aunts, mothers-in-law, amongst others, with an expressive representativity of the mother and the former spouse. The formal nets have a relevant role when informal nets are not available or when the family income allows it. Support given by social nets was characterized by the care and education of the children, support on performance of household chores, provision of resources, companionship and dialogues, in addition to advice. Concerned to the management of the different life domains of the new family, it stood out time restructuration, setting up new demands and priorities and maturing of the individual, in addition to the necessary role of the social nets in each life sphere. Thus, all and any change in the family structure produces a new re-management of the functions, modification in the roles performed and adaptation of a new family routine consequently, new manners of relating to and administrating life.
