At this time an environmental contamination by heavy metals is the main subject of science s studies. In this context mercury highlight due its high toxicity and great mobility by ecosystems. In Brazil, the environment contamination by mercury is the worried question in areas of gold s mines, that represent the most important source of anthropogenic mercury. Recent reports also look the occurrence upon to small contaminations starting from dentist s clinics. At Descoberto municipal district metallic mercury was detected, probably, due gold exploration that happened by this area in the century XIX. The first contact with this metal happened by residents from rural area. Human activities changes the local topography followed by a long rainy period allow rainfall infiltrates the ground and released mercury liquid. This work s subject is to evaluate a degree of contamination from possible polluted areas (in a surface and subsurface) and by the way characterize it. Besides it is intended to determine the possible tenors variation of the contamination along one hydrologic year. In specific case, it tried to detect tenors mercury in samples of water, soils and sediments from water bodies located in this area. The adopted methodology allowed to prove an existence of high mercury tenors in waters from Ribeirão do Grama like a considerable tenors in soils and sediments of this drainage basin.
