Formation of seedlings of watermelon (Citrullus lanatus) under effect of different concentrations of biofertilizer

Resumo: | The production of vegetable seedlings in the system is a critical step, since seedlings shapely allow the formation of plants with high production capacity. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of different concentrations of foliar biofertilizer training seedlings of watermelon (Citrullus lanatus).The study was conducted in Palmas-TO in greenhouse, using a completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments (0, 2, 4 and 6% of biofertilizer) and four replications. The seeds were sown in trays and, after germination, the seedlings were sprayed with biofertilizer twice a week until they reach the point of transplantation. The characteristics evaluated were number of leaves, height, root fresh weight, shoot fresh weight, total fresh weight, root dry weight, shoot dry weight and total dry weight. It was applied regression testing to verify the effect of increasing concentrations of biofertilizer. All traits, except number of leaves, responded positively to the use of biofertilizer. The biofertilizer used proves efficient in the formation of watermelon seedlings, in which it provides increases in both the size and biomass of the seedlings. However the application of concentrations above certain limits inhibits the growth of seedlings. |

However the application of concentrations above certain limits inhibits the growth of seedlings.A produção de mudas no sistema hortícola é uma etapa fundamental, uma vez que mudas bem formadas possibilitam a formação de plantas com alta capacidade produtiva. O presente trabalho teve por objetivo avaliar o efeito de diferentes concentrações de biofertilizante foliar na formação de mudas de melancia (Citrullus lanatus). O trabalho foi desenvolvido em Palmas-TO em casa de vegetação, utilizando delineamento experimental inteiramente casualisado (DIC), com quatro tratamentos (0, 2, 4 e 6% de biofertilizante) e quatro repetições. As sementes foram semeadas em bandejas de isopor e, após a emergência, as mudas foram pulverizadas com o biofertilizante duas vezes por semana até atingirem o ponto de transplante. As características avaliadas foram número de folhas, altura, peso fresco de raiz, peso fresco da parte aérea, peso fresco total, peso seco de raiz, peso seco da parte aérea e peso seco total. Foram aplicados testes de regressão para verificar o efeito do aumento das concentrações de biofertilizante. Todas as características, exceto o número de folhas, responderam positivamente à utilização do biofertilizante. O biofertilizante utilizado mostra-se eficiente na formação de mudas de melancia, pois proporciona aumentos tanto no tamanho quanto na biomassa das mudas.
