Deforestation in the Cerrado is affecting the species diversity of various organisms, especially those dependent on resources that are naturally scarce in this biome, such as xylophagous insects, coprophagous and fungivorous, among others. This is the case of Ciidae beetles, which are directly dependent on fungi growing on decaying wood. Ciidshavetheir entire life cycle, including copulation and oviposition,in basidiomes of leatherymacrofungi, commonly known as bracket fungi. The aim of this study was to survey the Ciidae species and their feeding habits at different Cerrado phytophysiognomiesin Alto Paranaíba, also evaluating some ecological factors that could determine the composition and species richness of these organisms in this biome. For this, four phytophysiognomieswere studied: Cerrado sensu stricto, Cerradão , Campo Limpo and Riparian Forest, where the explanatory variables were evaluated related to resource availability (fungal mass, circumference of trunks and species richness of fungi). There was no variation in species richness of Ciidae between the evaluated phytophysiognomies. The variables used to assess resource availability were not considered significant, because they did not affect the species richness of Ciidae. The species richness was equal, but the species composition proved quite distinct, with only one species occurring in all phytophysiognomies. The Campo Limpo area had the highest number of exclusive species. Concerning feeding habits, there was a tendency to polyphagy. It is known that some of the species found are unique to Cerrado and urban areas, for instanceStrigocis vicosensis Lopes-Andrade. Others, like Malacocis sp., are new species, which demonstrates the importance, but lack of knowledge, on the Ciidae fauna of the Cerrado.Changes in natural areas should be designed so as not to affect the availability of wood and therefore the development of fungi and ciids, which depend on this resource.
