Implantaram-se os experimentos na primeira quinzena dos meses de outubro de 1999 a maio de 2000. 0 delineamento experimental utilizado foi o de blocos casualizados com quatro repetições. Os cultivares de sorgo AG 2002, BR 501, BR 506, BR 601, BR 602 e BR 700 (forrageiros), AG 2005E e Massa 03 (duplo propósito), e AG 2501C e BRS 800 (corte e pastejo) foram utilizados em cada época de semeadura. Os estádios de crescimentos de cada cultivar foram avaliados, pelo teste de Scott-Knott, comparando-se os grupos de médias dos tratamentos. Os resultados obtidos permitiram concluir que o fotoperiodo e a temperatura apresentaram efeitos no EC 1, enquanto somente a temperatura apresentou efeito nos EC 2 e 3. 0 sorgo BR 506 apresentou o maior período de juvenilidade, e o BRS 800 foi o mais precoce para a diferenciação floral (EC 1). Os cultivares de duplo propósito e os de corte e pastejo apresentaram maior número de dias do EC2 nas semeaduras de abril e maio, e o AG 2005E apresentou o menor valor para essa característica na maior parte das semeaduras. O BRS 800 e o BR 506 apresentaram o menor e o maior número de dias do EC3 na maioria das semeaduras, respectivamenteTo obtain further informations on growth stages of sorghum cultivars in different times of the year, a trial was set up in theExperimental Field of the Department of Plant Science at the Universidade Federal de Viçosa, during the agricultural year 1999/2000. The trials were installed, starting in the first fortnight of October 1999 through May 2000, from october 1999. Each experiment was arranged in randomized blocks with four replications. The sorghum cultivars AG 2002, BR 501, BR 506, BR 601, BR 602 and BR 700 (forages), AG 2005E and Massa 03 (dual purpose) and AG 2501C and BR 800 (cutting and grazing) used were at each sowing time. The growth stages of each cultivar were evaluated, using the Scott-Knott test to compare the treatment average groups. It was concluded that the photºperiod and the temperature showed effects in GS l, while only the temperature showed effect in GS 2 and 3. The sorghum BR 506 showed the higher juvenile period and the BRS 800 was more precocious for floral differentiation (GS 1). The dual purpose and cutting and grazzing cultivars showed higher day numbers of GS 2 in april and may sowings and the AG 2005E' showed the smaller value for GS 2 in the most sowings.
