Estudo dos parâmetros periodontais para a avaliação morfológica da papila gengival interdental na região anterior da maxila

The purpose of this work was to evaluate the effect of the periodontal parameters in the gingival papilla at the region of the maxillary central incisors, maxillary lateral incisors, maxillary canines and maxillary first bicuspids in 31 dentists with good oral health. An index (Jemt 1997) was used to classify if the gingival papilla occupied the entire interproximal site or not. The distance from the dental contact point to the bone crest was measured using a periodontal probe through the gingival sulcus. The measurements were correlated to periodontal parameters such as gender, age and dental form. Also, the central incisor shape was correlated with the height of the keratinized mucosa. From the obtained results, it was concluded that the highest percentual value observed was related to the complete papilla (73%), and the average distance from the dental contact point to the bone crest measured 5.5 mm with the standard deviation of ± 0.7 mm. It was concluded that the distance between the contact point and the bone crest showed high influence on the presence or absence of the interproximal gingival papilla. It was concluded that the region of the maxillary central incisor shows a tendency to the absence of the interproximal gingival papilla than the maxillary first bicuspids. Moreover, the parameters of age and gender had no influence in the measurements of the distance from dental contact point to the bone crest. Squared and triangular dental form showed significant statistic difference when correlated to the distance from dental contact point to the crest of the bone. There was no significant statistic difference when the central incisor shape was correlated with the height of the keratinized mucosa.
